Frequently asked questions
Short answers. Everything in detail is in the guide.
Is GymPlayer free? Are there ads or in-app purchases?
Yes, GymPlayer is free in the App Store and on Google Play. There are no ads, no in-app purchases, no subscription and no account.
Do I need internet in the gym?
No. GymPlayer never connects to the internet. With two devices they only need the same local Wi-Fi – the camera phone's hotspot is enough, without gym Wi-Fi and without mobile data.
Do I need two devices?
No. In CAM+PLAY mode one phone or tablet films and shows at the same time. A second device helps when the coach wants to watch on a tablet while the camera stays on the tripod – and one camera can serve any number of players at once, iPhone, iPad, Android and browsers mixed. See one device or two.
How do I connect the player to the camera?
Set the filming device to CAMERA and the viewing device to PLAYER, both on the same Wi-Fi. The player usually finds the camera by itself; otherwise tap Search, or type the address shown on the camera screen and tap Connect. See connecting the player.
The player can't find the camera – what can I do?
Check that both devices are on the same Wi-Fi and that the other device is set to CAMERA. On an iPhone or iPad allow GymPlayer under Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network. The player shows its own address at the bottom of the panel – if it starts differently from the camera's, the devices are on different networks. See if something goes wrong.
Can I watch on a laptop or PC?
Yes. Open the address shown on the camera screen (for example http://192.168.43.1:8080/video) in any browser on the same Wi-Fi: you get the same player with freeze, slow motion and saving, without installing anything. See player in a browser. On Windows there is also GymPlayer for Windows – it can even film with the PC's webcam itself.
Why does the picture stutter or only show about 30 fps?
Usually because of 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. Switch to 5 GHz or use the camera phone's hotspot. With two devices the player also fetches the frames the Wi-Fi dropped from the camera after you freeze (BF ◢), so the frozen picture is complete again.
How do I save a video, and where does it go?
Freeze the picture and tap the save icon above the control row. The part between the two slider handles is saved at the speed of the slow-motion chip – on Android into the gallery (Movies/GymPlayer), on iPhone and iPad into Photos, in a browser as a download. See saving a video.
How many seconds does GymPlayer keep?
30 seconds by default. The 30 s chip switches between 10, 20, 30, 45 and 60 seconds, the settings allow up to 90. A longer buffer needs more memory – when the RAM limit shortens it, the chip turns yellow.
Is my video uploaded anywhere?
No. The pictures stay in the device's memory and are overwritten all the time. A video is only saved when you tap save, and it stays on your device – GymPlayer has no account and no server. See the privacy policy.
Which devices are supported?
Android phones and tablets from Android 7, iPhone and iPad from iOS 17. High frame rates (120 or 240 fps) need a camera that offers them. Any browser on the same Wi-Fi can act as a player.
Can I use it for other sports?
Yes. GymPlayer works wherever a movement should be seen right after it – trampoline, cheerleading, dance, martial arts, parkour, diving, athletics or any skill training.
